Episode 11: Buffy, duck!

Exams are over! (almost) Because of this, we're a tad loopy, but I like to think that this makes for a more interesting podcast. Possibly even more entertaining?

In any case, this week we have another treat for you. Our beloved Dr R joins us to discuss her new book, Buffy Goes Dark, her use of Buffy in the classroom, and even a little season seven. TV this week was exciting for us because we go to watch T:SCC when it aired.

Thank Ky for the lack of originality in these shownotes. She put too much pressure on me.

Enjoy!

Thanks for having me on your podcast! I'm so embarrassed that I blanked on GINA TORRES' name, though. Let's say it's because "Zoe" is overwhelmingly awesome.

Good news: the book arrived today!

I avoid Twitter like the plague. Mainly because I know I'll become hopelessly addicted.

CHUCK - Some of my favorite Chuck/Casey moments from the series were in this episode. The best was that crazed grin on Casey's face when he learns Chuck is in the trunk.

And how cool is it that Captain Awesome is the son of Bruce Boxleitner, TRON himself, a poster of whom hangs on Chuck's bedroom wall?

T:SCC - I really couldn't stand the pointless plot thread of Riley dragging John to a party, but the whole section with Cameron in the library, tracking down the history of this lost Terminator, was absolutely fantastic. And I love the clever little joke about the Terminator's victim being the Governor of California. Nice Arnie reference.

HEROES - I think the whole idea of the eclipse goes out the window when one thinks about the fact that people have shown superpowers since as far back as Medieval Japan (Adam), yet they never once noticed that their abilities disappeared durring eclipses? And the whole notion of that being the cause of this batch of superheroes in the first place directly contradicts members of the main cast who have exhibited their powers since before the event. It's pure bunk, and yet another smear in one hell of a messy season. The only things I enjoyed here was Noah's hunt of Sylar and Elle, the growing bond between Matt and Daphne, and Hiro and Ando getting sage advice from Seth Green and Breckin Meyer. Otherwise, this was truly my least favorite episode of the series.

It's a shame I haven't watched BUFFY, because that sounds like one hell of an interesting book. I'll try and keep it in mind for when I get around to the series.

Sorry, Faith, but I'm holding off on KNIGHT RIDER until I can go through the original Hasselhoff series.

Chuck deserves thumbs waaaay up! Smart writing, warm humour.... This is a show that totally 'groks' it.This show hits the perfect counterbalance between spy vs. spy adventure and geek humour, with a splash of The Office thrown in for good measure.

Chuck is an action-comedy-drama television program. The story of this series is very interesting and I just love to Watch Chuck TV Show online.
