Episode Nine: Miss Ky is Ill Today . . . (still)

Due to the fact that Episode 8 was Twilight-centric, we decided to bring you Episode 9 catching up on all of the television we haven't talked about for the past 2 weeks. Becky joins us again to talk True Blood with Ky, and then the girls rave about Gossip Girl, Chuck, Heroes, T:SCC, and Faith's current obsession with Smallville.

PS: It wasn't Tuesday or Wednesday. It was Thursday.

Music used in this episode:
"Back in Your Head" by Tegan and Sara
"Rewind" by Paramore

Sorry I'm still a couple weeks behind.

HEROES ...

I was worried that the flashback episode, much in the same way as the last flash-forward episode, would do little to drive the story forward, but they really managed to uncover some great history that answers a lot of questions and sets up far more.

Elle and Sylar are fantastic together! I doubt they'll stay on Arthur's side, but we'll see. And I love how Claire is the catalyst. Once again, it all comes down to the cheerleader.

Oh, and Sylar's not an empath. That is someone with the psychic ability to feel someone's emotions. What he has learned is merely to show empathy, a concern for other peoples' well-being.

CHUCK ..

Jordana Brewster rules and her character of Jill had perfect chemistry with Chuck. Sadly, I knew something like the Fulcrum twist was fated to happen because she's merely a guest star who gets in the way of the tension between him and Sarah. Still, it was fun while it lasted.

T:SCC ...

Aside from the final shoot down being just a tad too easy, I agree that "Mr. Ferguson is Ill Today" was absolutely fantastic. From the non-linear structure, to the creepy scene between John and Cameron on the bed, to some killer direction, it was definitely among the top episodes in the show.

As for the following episode, I'm not a fan of dream sequences. They are usually just an excuse to show some clever imagery that metaphorically explores a character's thoughts, but we already knew Sarah didn't trust Cameron and was worried about leading John to SkyNet, so there wasn't anything new explored. Other than that, I quite enjoyed the episode with some good John/Cameron scenes in the car, the twist about Ellison, and the whole incident with Derek, Jesse, and the man from the future.

I know the two of you didn't watch it, but I'm bummed about the cancellation of MY OWN WORST ENEMY. It was a damn good series that likely won't get to wrap up all the intriguing threads it established. Darn.
